FAQs
+ IS RAW RAWR A BALANCED DIET?
Yes. Raw Rawr is developed to be true to a natural carnivorous diet and the appropriate balance of macronutrition. Having said this, we still recommend supplementation in order to meet micronutrition needs because of the limitations of the domesticated environment. In the wild, carnivores can forage for vegetation when they are unwell or have a nutritional deficiency. Therefore, to address any nutritional gaps, we recommend a high quality and natural supplement.
+ CAN MY DOG DIGEST RAW FOOD?
Dogs are carnivores and have stomachs naturally high in digestive acid for digesting raw meat. Domesticated dogs who have not been fed a true-to-nature diet, sufficient vitamins, minerals, enzymes and/or amino acid, may have weaker digestive systems. This may reduce efficiency in food breakdown, digestion and nutrient malabsorption. This does not mean they are not suited to a raw diet – in fact, we believe all the more that transitioning to a raw protein-based diet is a great way to enhance the health and longevity of domesticated dogs.
It is possible to gain the benefits of a raw diet even in dogs who have never eaten raw before. Adding probiotics, digestive enzymes and digestive acidifiers to Raw Rawr helps make raw feeding possible!
+ WHAT MEATS ARE USED IN RAW RAWR AND HOw ARE THEY PROCESSED?
All our ingredients are sourced locally in Australia. Raw Rawr undergoes testings to ensure every batch is pathogen-free. This process allows us to avoid the use of high-pressure pressurisation (HPP) so that we can prepare all our ingredients as minimally as possible, using only freeze drying to maintain the highest possible level of nutrition. HPP is sometimes used in addition to the freeze-drying process to deactivate bad pathogens. But the process also destroys live enzymes and other essential nutrients, lowering the nutritional value of the food. Raw Rawr – on the other hand – is as close to fresh raw meat as one can possibly get… just add water!
+ HOW WOULD YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR DOG IS LACKING?
Blood test Issues surfacing While supplementation is not required, we do recommend a high quality and natural supplement to address any nutritional deficiency from health issues and/or illnesses.
In the wild, when carnivores are not feeling well they forage and find things that they are lacking, whereas in domesticated environments, they can’t do that. Therefore supplementation is advised.
+ Is Raw Rawr AAFCO approved?
AAFCO standards are meant for commercially produced kibbles and canned food with lousy ingredients and fillers. The AAFCO standard was introduced to ensure these low grade foods being sold to pet owners at least meet the minimum nutritional requirements dogs and cats need.
While our Raw Rawr recipes (except our weight management formulation for Kangaroo) do exceed the AAFCO requirement, we will not be pursuing the AAFCO accredition.
Raw Rawr is formulated to mimic the natural diet of canines and felines. We add in sufficient organs and offals, to balance up the nutrients, as well as a good ratio of muscle meats to bone.
Raw Rawr is also formulated to be a clean, pure and simple diet, with easy to read ingredients owners can understand. It is also highly recommended for cats or dogs who have allergies and need to abstain from a myriad of ingredients.
Raw Rawr Pet Foods is a True To Nature diet, supplementation is meant as an add on. If your furkid has issues like joint problems, it is recommended to have an added supplement, same with kittens/puppies and senior pets.
